The Chinese government intends to provide more support for overseas NGOs that seek to carry out exchanges in China. That's the word from the minister of Public Security -- Guo Shengkun.
Guo said at a Shanghai symposium that China appreciates contributions made by overseas NGOs, and supports their friendly activities in China. Authorities already are proposing to help overseas NGOs through legislation.
A draft law on overseas NGOs is under deliberation by the National People's Congress and would protect the legitimate rights and interests of overseas NGOs in China. The measure would also provide convenience and preferential tax treatment for their operations.
