depend, rely
这两个动词后跟on(upon)，均有“依赖、依靠”之意。
depend : 侧重指因自身能力不足或缺乏自信心而依靠他人或物给予帮助或支持。
The success of the meeting depends largely on whether the chairman is efficient.（这个会议的成功很大程度上是依靠了主席的能力。）
rely : 通常包含着以前的经验证明对方是能依赖的意思。
One can always rely on him to be polite and do the right thing.（人们都相信他会彬彬有礼,行事得体。）
