(BEIJING, June 16) -- Turkey defeated the Czech Republic 3-2 in a Group A match at the UEFA Euro 2008 tournament on June 15 in Geneva, Switzerland, at the Stade de Genève. The victory secures eighth spot for the Turkish team, qualifying them for the quarterfinals.The Czech team dominated most of the match, with Jan Koller's header and Jaroslav Plasil's volley giving their team a 2-0 lead.Despite sustained attacks by the Czech team, Turkey got on the scoreboard in the 75th minute with a goal by Arda Turan.The turning point came in the 87th minute when goalkeeper Petr Cech failed to hold a cross, allowing Nihat Kahveci to score the equalizer.Just two minutes later, Kahveci scored his second goal of the match and put Turkey ahead 3-2.
