The international community has spoken highly of China's role in trying to solve the refugee crisis. China had helped in mediating the Syrian ceasefire. China also provides financial and human resources for UN peacekeeping missions. Over 2,600 Chinese soldiers take part in UN peacekeeping missions.
The UN says China now plays an increasingly-important role in providing public services in war-torn areas.
"China is in 10 of the 16 peacekeeping operations. In Africa of course, in Dafur, in South Sudan, In Liberia, they do make a huge contribution to our operations, performing in a very satisfactory manner efficiently and effectively. China also does contribute a number of assets that are critical to the success of peacekeeping, medical doctors of course," El Ghassim Wane, assistant Sec. Gen. of UN Peacekeeping Operations, said.
