It was earlier this week that the NBA Finals were completed. And today, teams are selecting potential future stars that could help them win a title in the future as the annual draft is underway. And the top overall pick would go to Philadelphia -- and it was no surprise who they would take.
The 76ers would use the first choice to land Ben Simmons. The 6-foot-10 forward from Louisiana State University is seen as a point-forward someone that can grab a defensive rebound and lead the break.
The second pick would go to the Los Angeles Lakers. And they would begin their post-Kobe Bryant era with the selection of Duke University's Brandon Ingram.
The Boston Celtics, who own eight picks in Thursday's two-round draft, would have the third pick -- and grabbed small forward Jaylen Brown from California.
Meanwhile -- later in the draft, China's Zhou Qi could be selected. The 20-year-old center has the potential to be the first Chinese player taken in the draft since 2007. The Chinese international has been playing with the CBA's Xinjiang Flying Tigers the last two years. He has been training recently in Italy with the national team to prepare for the upcoming Olympic Games.
