Let's take a closer look at the timeline of the China-UK Strategic Dialogue held since it started in 2005.
The initiative dates back eleven years in May 2004, when former Premier Wen Jiabao visited Britain. The two countries agreed at that time to establish a comprehensive strategic partnership and a regular meeting mechanism.
The first round of the China-UK Strategic Dialogue was held in London a year later. The second round was in Beijing in 2007. The level of that dialogue advanced up from the vice foreign ministerial level in March 2010 when State Councilor Dai Bingguo and British Foreign Minister David Miliband met in Beijing.
The dialogue was held in Beijing again four months later as the first strategic dialogue between the two countries after David Cameron became Prime Minister.
