An Austrian newspaper has reported cases of mislabelled fish in European markets.
According to Der Standard, more than one fifth of fish in some of the European countries are sold with wrong tags. Of all the samples inspected in Germany, one fourth of plaice is inconsistent with its labels, and so is Spanish shrimps. And the problem extends across the pond.
In America, as much as one third of fish products tested was found to be made from other meats. New York Times reported that 94 percent of albacore tunas sold in New York is actually the silver scabbardfish.
