CAIRO, July 7 (Xinhua) -- Unknown militants shot an officer at Egypt's National Security Sector dead on Friday, official news agency MENA reported.
"Militants opened fire on Sherief Azazy, an officer in the National Security Sector, after Friday prayers in Qalyoubia province," the report added.
Earlier in the day, a suicide bombing followed by shooting on an army checkpoint has left at least ten army officers killed in North Sinai.
Egypt faces waves of anti-security attacks since the army-led ouster of Islamist president Mohamed Morsi in 2013 in response to mass protests against his rule.
