CAIRO, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim on Thursday survived an assassination attempt when a car bomb exploded near his convoy, official news agency MENA quoted a security source as saying.
The blast occurred near the minister's passing convoy in Nasr City in eastern Cairo in the morning as he was on his way from home to the Interior Ministry headquarters in downtown Cairo, according to MENA.
At least four were injured in the attack, official Ahram Online reported, quoting an Interior Ministry source.
Criminal investigators and explosion experts were immediately sent to the scene.
