THE HAGUE, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- FC Utrecht caused an upset in the quarterfinals of the KNVB Beker, the Dutch Cup, on Thursday by beating PSV 3-1 in Eindhoven.
PSV's new signing Marco van Ginkel, who arrived on loan from Chelsea and started as replacement for injured Andres Guardado, had the first chance of the match, but the visitors took control afterwards. Bart Ramselaar opened the scoring on behalf of Utrecht in the 32nd minute and after a pass by Yassin Ayoub French striker Sebastien Haller produced the second Utrecht goal four minutes from half-time.
In the second half Utrecht continued to outclass PSV and even scored more when Ramselaar passed PSV defender Jetro Willems and added his second goal. The home-team pulled one back through Hector Moreno, but did not came closer. Utrecht qualified for the semi-finals, Eredivisie leaders PSV are out.
Last Tuesday AZ Alkmaar were the first to book a semi-final berth by beating amateur side HHC Hardenberg 1-0, while on Wednesday another amateur side VVSB from Noordwijkerhout shocked First Division side FC Den Bosch by coming back from 2-0 behind to win 3-2 in the final minutes. Match winner Maikey Parami became an instant hero.
Feyenoord, which lost their last five league matches in a row, solved their crisis by beating Roda JC 1-0 in Kerkrade after extra time on Wednesday. Defender Eric Botteghin headed in the winning goal.
