BEIJING, Jan. 2 (Xinhua) -- The Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee has awarded a team of port workers the honorary title of "Role Model of the Times" for their outstanding work in constructing a fully automated wharf in east China's Shandong Province.
Since 2013, the team of workers from Qingdao Port of Shandong Port Group Co., Ltd. have endeavored to make technological breakthroughs, before completing a fully automated wharf with independent intellectual property rights, said a statement by the department.
The team has exhibited the spirit of craftsmanship and the courage to make innovation, according to the statement.
Qingdao Port is the second-largest foreign trade port in China and has engaged in trade with more than 700 ports from over 180 countries and regions.
