The building is 828 meters tall. Lead developer of the world's tallest skyscraper says the final price tag on the now completed marvel is 1.5 billion US dollars.
That comes out to nearly 9.4 million US dollars per floor in the more than 160-story structure.
The building boasts the most stories and highest occupied floor of any building in the world, and ranks as the world's tallest, beating out a television mast in North Dakota.
Saud Masud is the Head of Research and Senior Analyst of Real Estate at UBS investment Bank in Dubai. He says opening the tower has special meaning.
"We have to give them credit for an engineering feet, and it's also very symbolic, it's the tallest building in the world. It speaks to the economic momentum Dubai has had, for several years now."
Burj developer Emaar says the entire Downtown Burj Dubai development, which includes the tower, will cost 20 billion US dollars to build. Sales of properties around the Burj are meant to help pay for the tower itself, which analysts say is unlikely to be profitable on its own.
