When it comes to makeup, glitter only works for the younger crowd. But a subtle shimmer looks good on everyone, so cosmetic companies are adding a touch of glow to everything.
"Technology has enabled something in between large, sparkly particles and matte. Anyone can wear shimmery makeup now," says Jane Iredale, founder of Iredale Mineral Cosmetics. "This has long been a makeup artist's trick to create healthy, flawless-looking skin," says Sara Strand, creator of Pop Beauty, available at sephora.com. "Shimmer can transform dull skin, and reflect light away from fine lines."
There's a product for every budget: Try Prescriptives Colorscope Cheek Color or Laura Mercier's Pure Metal Liquid Crystal Lip Glaces. At the drugstore, try Cover-Girl Eyeslicks Gel Eyecolor, Revlon Eyeglide Shimmer Shadow or Maybelline Forever Metallics Lipstick.
