比喻是托福写作常用技巧，也是非常行之有效的技巧，而且在阅读中也会出现较多，如果应用恰当，会产生最意想不到的效果，做得分中也会相应的提高。
1) Simile(明喻)：It is a figure of speech which makes a comparison between twounlike elements having at least one quality or characteristic in common. To makethe comparison,words like as,as……as, as if and like are used to transfer thequality we associate with one to the other.For example, As cold waters to athirsty soul,so is good news from a far country.
2) Metaphor(暗喻)：It is like a simile,also makes a comparison between twounlike elements, but unlike a simile, this comparison is implied rather thanstated.For example,the world is a stage.
3) Analogy (类比)：It is also a form of comparison,but unlike simile ormetaphor which usually uses comparison on one point of resemblance,analogy drawsa parallel between two unlike things that have several common qualities orpoints of resemblance.
明喻和暗喻的修辞比较简单，是托福写作常用技巧，在运用的时候想到什么适合的本体和喻体就可以进行“喻”，要修饰什么物体也都可以比喻。
而类比则需要一些基础知识做为施展的条件，但是越是复杂的难的语法条件，越是有意想不到的效果，大家在于这样的方法要多加练习，这样才能掌握。而且要多多拿纸笔写作，才会有提高效果，加之托福听力中运用听写方式对于听力也是非常有效果。
