My View on Opportunity
Opportunities are everywhere. But why are people always complaining that they don’t have enough opportunities to make their lives brighter? Actually, opportunity never waits for anyone; it comes silently and goes away quickly. If you just stay there waiting for it all day, all you can get is nothing.
Once there was a priest, he was so devout that he prayed lots of times every day. One day a terrible flood came, the frightened priest went to the tower and started praying. It rained heavily, but he believed that God would come to save him. After a long time, a small wooden boat with a man in raincoat appeared in his sight. The man shouted to him, “Come on, priest! Get on the boat quickly! I’ll take you to the town!” But the priest refused, “No, God will save me.’’ About half an hour later, a helicopter came by and the pilot found him. So the pilot asked him to get on the helicopter. Again, the priest refused, “No, God will save me.” Finally, the poor man died and came to the heaven, there he saw God, and he asked God why he didn’t save him. However, God said, “Didn’t I send you a boat and a helicopter?”
Like the priest in this story, sometimes we don’t recognize the opportunities and just let them go. There is a saying, opportunity seldom knocks twice. Once you lose it, you can hardly hold it again. In such a situation, all we should do is to keep on working and prepare for the coming opportunities. When you recognize the opportunity, grab it, and then the road to success won’t be so far any more. After all, opportunities are only for the prepared minds. Start working hard now to welcome the opportunities!
