名人教英文：由「唧牙膏」说起
香港的政治语言不算丰富，像批评政府的话，来去这里一句「搬龙门」，那里一句「唧牙膏」。老老实实，听得开始生厌。
话说记者问政府攞料之烦，官方公开信息之慢、之 「逐啲嚟」，bit by bit，似唧牙膏。唧，书面语是挤。英文系：
the official information release process is like "squeezing toothpaste". 看，squeezing toothpaste要用 " " 括起，可知不是通用语，不是寻常的英文。
许多人或会误会，唧牙膏这个比喻——而牙膏源自西方——该就是译自英文？不是呢。英文不兴这样的讲法。
squeeze，确可以与信息挂钩。像：
he just won't talk. you have to squeeze the information out of him. 他就是不肯开口，你去挤他，把话挤出来。
但就跟挤牙膏无关了。一句：
the toothpaste is out of the tube. 牙膏已给挤出来了。这句话等于「泼出去了的水」，指覆水难收，情况已没得挽回；亦近似指spilled milk，「倒泻了的牛奶」。
