hell
hell这个词虽不算太粗俗，但应尽量避免使用。因有些人认为这是不礼貌的。
a hell of a lot
用：有两种用法，起加强语气的作用:
（1）表示程度，修饰前面的动词，如like, hate等-
意：相当;非常;一要命
例，She likes rne a hell of a lot!
她太喜欢我啦!
I hate him a hell of a lot!
我恨死他了!
（2）表示程度，修饰其后的形容词〔多为比较级，
意;更…;(要比)…得多
例，We don't knew for how tong it is going to be, fire years, eight years, maybe for a hell of a lot longer.
我们不知道这种状态要持续多久，5年，8年，兴许要更久。
a hell of a +名词
用：此习语有以下两种用法:
（1）用于加强其后面形容词十名词的语气在小说或汁话里a hell of a...有时按其实际发音，写成u hellu}a...，
意：非常…;相当…，极其一
例 .That's a hell of a good ear. How much did you pay far it?
那可是辆相当不错的车。’花多少钱买的?
It's been here for a hell of along time.
这东西放在这儿有相当长的时间了。
（2）有时这个短语所修饰的名词前可能没有明确意义的形容词，这时可根据该名词的意义而定一其意(即积极的或消极的)，也可根据整个句子的情况(视句子的后半句)而定
例 .What a hell of a noise!
真是吵死人啦!
注：a hell of a time有两种意思:
（1）〔可以看作是相当J喻快的一段时光
例Last year Mary had a hell of a time on her holiday in Hawaii.
去年玛丽在夏威夷的假期过得相当愉快.
(2)也可以是柏当艰难、不喻快的日子
.The Smiths had a hell of a tune in trying to save er}augh money to buy the
house.
为了省钱买那幢房子，史密斯一家人有段日子过得相当艰难。
