(BEIJING, July 22) -- The Guatemala Olympic Council announced it will send 12 athletes to take part in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Badminton player Kevin Cordon will carry the flag in the August 8 opening ceremony.Kevin was ranked 55th by the Badminton World Federation (BWF). He was also Guatemala's flagman at the 2007 Pan American Games, where he captured the sliver medal. He will begin competition in the Olympic Men's Single Badminton Tournament on August 9.Guatemala's remaining 11 Olympic athletes will participate in Weightlifting, Marathon, Equestrian, Modern Pentathlon, Swimming, Boxing, Sailing and Archery.
