(BEIJING, July 17) -- Alejandro Foglia, a 24-year-old sailor, was nominated to be the flag bearer for Uruguay at the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games on August 8.Foglia, ranked No. 17 in the world, was the first athlete from Uruguay to qualify for the 2008 Olympics. He will compete in the Men's Laser Dinghy in Qingdao.The Uruguay Olympic Committee has also confirmed its 12-person Olympic roster, which includes Milton Wynants, who won silver in Cycling in Sydney, the only medal Uruguay has won at the Olympics since 1964.Uruguay will have athletes competing in Athletics, Cycling, Swimming, Rowing, Shooting and Sailing.
