(BEIJING, July 10) -- The Jordan Olympic Committee (JOC) has announced the names of the seven athletes who will represent Jordan in its bid for the country's first ever Olympic medal at Beijing 2008.

Twenty-eight-year-old Khalil Hanahneh, a former army officer, will compete in the men's 200 m sprint. He told reporters that he is proud to be in Jordan's Olympic team. Hanahneh participated in the men's 100 m sprint at Athens 2004.

Bara Marwan, silver medallist at the Asian Junior Games in Jakarta, will also compete in the track and field event. She has great expectations for the upcoming Games.

"The Olympic Games is the pinnacle of any sportsman or woman's career and I would like to wish our athletes all the best with their final preparations for Beijing," said HRH Prince Feisal Al Hussein, President of the JOC, which was quoted by the official website of the organization.

Jordan's seven athletes will represent the Kingdom in table tennis, swimming, athletics, taekwondo and equestrian.
