BEIJING, June 27) -- Though injured in her right knee ligament earlier this month at the SWATCH FIVB Paris stop, Juliana Silva, the Brazilian beach volleyball star, has opted for a conservative treatment so as to better her chance to compete in Beijing this August. Suggested by the doctor to undergo a surgery, Juliana finally goes for the “physiotherapy plus muscular strengthening” combination, as her partner Larissa insists that she will not go to Beijing if not accompanied by Juliana. The FIVB website quotes Juliana as claiming herself to be “optimistic, hopeful and confident” of her possibility to compete in the Olympics.The Brazilian duo currently ranks the first in their home country and the third on the international circuit. The final list of players qualified for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games Beach Volleyball Tournaments will be announced by the FIVB on July 20, upon the conclusion of the Marseille SWATCH FIVB World Tour event.
