The 26-year-old Russian-born Rodionova, who is ranked at No 75, broke Li's serve three times and won the first set, 6-3. However, in the second set Li bounced back by breaking Rodionova's serve twice to take the second set, 6-0. Li then controlled the third and final set to win 6-1. Li Na was the first Chinese player to reach a grand slam singles quarter-final at Wimbledon in 2006, after she toppled Czech No.10 seeded player Nicole Vaidisova 4-6, 6-1, 6-3.
