(BEIJING, June 14) -- No. 5 seed Zhou Mi beat fellow Hong Kong player Wang Chen 21-17, 21-19 on June 13 to advance to the semifinals of the Singapore Open Women's Singles competition.Wang Chen and Zhou Mi were former Chinese national team shuttlers and have performed well since joining the Hong Kong team. Wang Chen claimed gold at the Doha Asian Games in 2006 and has been ranked first in the world ever since.Zhou Mi's semifinal opponent is India's Saina Nehwal, who beat Indonesian player Firdasari Adrianti 21-16, 16-21, 21-14 in the quarterfinals.Wong Mew Choo of Malaysia beat Korea's Hwang Hye Youn 21-12, 21-9 to reach the other semifinal. She will face Tine Rasmussen of Denmark, who beat Singapore's Aiying Xing 21-13, 21-11.
