Yao Yongguang of Fujian won gold with a score of 18.12 points in the Men's Shot Put Qual. Round (Group A) at the "Good Luck Beijing" 2008 China Athletics Open at National Stadium on May 22. Xu Zhongnan from Heilongjiang finished second with 18.08 points. Wang Guangfu from Hunan won the bronze medal with 17.91 points.
