BUENOS AIRES, May 2 (Xinhua) -- Discus thrower Jorge Balliengo and swimmer Agustina De Giovanni will be another two Argentine representatives during this August's Olympic Games in Beijing, local media said on Friday.
Balliengo threw 62.64 meters in Frosinone, Italy on Wednesday and ranked with B mark for the world greatest competition, being the ninth athlete of his country who get a ticket to China.
The others are German Chiaraviglio (vault pole), Jennifer Dahlgren and Juan Cerra (hammer), Pablo Pietrobelli (javelin), German Lauro (shot put), Javier Carriqueo (1,500 meters) and Claudia Camargo (marathon).
Many had doubts on Balleiengo after he injured his shoulder and suffered total pectoral slip.
Balliengo competed in Athens four years ago and holds the Latin American record with 66.32 meters.
Swimmer De Giovanni assured her berth after the International Federation of Swimming (FINA) recognized her timing at the Ohio Invitational in Columbus, United States on March 23.
She established a new Latin American record of 200 meters therein breast stroke with 2 minutes 31.15 seconds, 2.25 seconds bellow than the B mark for Beijing 2008.
Also got the tickets swimmers Gerogina Bardach (Mark A), Jose Meolans, Juan Martin Pereyra, Esteban Paz, Andres Gonzalez, Sergio Ferreyra, Cecilia Biagioli and Javiera Salcedo (Mark B).
