■ 符号或单词如何变数
对于某些符号或单词，如果在某些特殊语境需将其用作名词，且需要使用复数形式，此时可在词尾可加-s或-’s. 如：
All the –’s should be changed to +’s. 所有的正号应改为负号。
His speech was punctuated by irritating ah’s and well’s. 他说话时常带烦人的ah和well。
His argument contains too many ifs and buts. 他的论证带有太多的“如果”和“但是”。
■ 数字如何变数
既可在词尾加-s，也可加-’s。如：
Your 3(’)s look like 8(’)s. 你写的3看起来像8。
但是，如果是one, two, three, four这样的数词，则一般规则变复数。如：
They arrived in twos and threes. 他们三三两两地来了。
He was in his early twenties. 他二十一二岁。
