同位语（从句）的限制性与非限制性

同位语和定语一样，也有限制性与非限制性之分。限制性同位语前后无逗号，非限制性同位语则有逗号。比较：

My frirend Jim Smith is from America. 我的朋友吉姆·史密斯是美国人。(Jim Smith为my friends的限制性同位语)

The man, my teacher, never rides a bike. 那人是我的老师，他从不骑自行车。(my teacher为the man的非限制性同位语)

同样，与定语从句区分限制性或非限制性一样，同位语从句也可分为限制性（通常前后不用逗号）和非限制性（通常前后要用逗号）两种。如：

The question whether he would agree with us was discussed. 他是否同意我们的问题已讨论过了。

The question, whether we need it, has not yet been considered. 我们是否需要它，这个问题还没有被考虑。
