no与not…any

两者均表示否定，有时可互换：

There aren’t any buses after midnight. 午夜以后没有公共汽车。

There are no buses after midnight. 午夜以后没有公共汽车。

如果用no取代not…any, 则显得略为正式一点，并表示更强烈的否定。在普通谈话中，否定句用not…any, 但如果需要用一个否定词来作句子的开头，那么就必须用no，而不能用not…any。如：

非公莫入(from www.hxen.com)。

正：No admittance except on business.

误：Not any admittance except on business.

六十五岁以上的人无需购票。

正：No tickets are needed for people over 65.

误：Not any tickets are needed for people over 65.

没有人能做出这样残酷的事。

正：No human being would be capable of such cruelty.

误：Not any human being would be capable of such cruelty.

未听说有人受重伤。

正：No serious injuries were known to have occurred.

误：Not any serious injuries were known to have occurred.
