The Mobile World Congress 2016 started off with a bang on Monday as Samsung and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg announced a major partnership involving virtual reality.

Samsung is counting on the partnership to help it continue to dominate the global mobile telephone market. The South Korean company is facing battles on multiple fronts from such Asian peers as LG, Xiaomi and Huawei.
So back to the basics. Samsung needs all of the bells and whistles, actual and virtual, it can muster to boost the sales of its smartphones, such as the newly released Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.
Still, the latest Galaxy S7 models have no fundamentally new features and investors and analysts expect growth to slow at Samsung in line with the smart phone market.
Only Chinese manufacturers Huawei and Xiaomi have reported continued expansion.
