In China, Guangzhou Evergrande have announced the signing of Jackson Martinez. The five time reigning CSL champions purchased the Colombian striker from Atletico Madrid for 42 million euros, setting a new record for not just the Chinese top flight, but all of Asia.
Martinez refused an invitation to join AC Milan last summer and was picked up instead by Atletico for 35 million euros. But this season, the stiker has only scored twice in 15 appearances for the Spanish La Liga side despite being the top scorer in Portugal's Primeiera Liga for all three of the seasons he was with Porto from 2012-2015.
Although Martinez said he did not want to play in Asia, Atletico coach Diego Simeone had no use for him in Spain and shipped the underperforming player to Evergrande.
