An emergency response has been issued for eastern China's Fujian Province after Typhoon Dujuan made landfall this morning. It hit the coastal city of Putian at around 8:50 a.m.
Weather authorities say winds of up to 33 meters per second were recorded. Flights and schools have been suspended in its main cities. Fujian province had taken preparations in advance of the typhoon's arrival. About 32,000 fishing boats offshore returned to harbor and around 160,000 people returned to shore.
The typhoon is also expected to bring gales, downpours and high waves to neighboring Zhejiang Province.
