So it was fitting that senior Chinese officials, here to pave the way for President Xi Jinping's visit, launched Chinese Book month at the famous store, and for those wanting to get to know more about President Xi before his arrival, they showcased his book on Chinese governance and one of its central themes the Chinese dream.
"Right now, the Chinese dream is like a kind of catchword. Lots of people around the world are paying more attention to the Chinese dream, and this Chinese dream is a major concept put forward by President Xi since he assumed the office of the general secretary of the Chinese communist party," Guo Weimin, vice minister of State Council Information Office, said.
The Chinese dream and the American dream and their differences will be much discussed in the coming days- as well as all aspects of the U.S. China relationship. Chinese officials pointed out that President Xi Jinping's book has sold more than five and half million copies- and Washington political followers wanting to learn more about the Chinese President and his thoughts could boost those sales before his arrival in the U.S. next week.
