Migrants are now arriving in dramatically increasing numbers to the European Union.
New figures released on Tuesday show nearly 110,000 migrants crossed the European Union's borders in July alone.
EU border agency Frontex reported that its latest figures far outstripped the previous monthly record in June of 70,000. It also says, during the first seven months of the year, there were nearly 340,000 migrants, up from more than 120,000 during the same period last year.
Greece saw 21,000 refugees land on its shores last week alone. It appealed to its EU partners on Tuesday to come up with a comprehensive strategy to deal with the issue. That number is almost half Greece's overall refugee intake in 2014.
