The Shanghai audio-video archives have released digital maps on the Battle of Songhu -- also known as the Battle of Shanghai... along with two video archives on China's War of Resistance.
The battle was the first of the 22 major encounters between the Chinese Army and the Imperial Japanese Army. It's considered one of the bloodiest battles of the entire war, and has been described as "Stalingrad on the Yangtze River".
Thirty war-time landmark locations in Shanghai illustrate the battlefields, and the communal concession in the city. The map aims to connect viewers with history through comparing past and current locations.
