Japan has halted all its Shinkansen bullet trains running between Tokyo and Osaka, after a man set himself alight in one of the carriages, forcing the train to come to an emergency stop.
The incident happened around half past eleven local time. Numerous passengers were seen being helped out of the smouldering train, which stopped just outside of Tokyo between two coastal towns. Japanese broadcaster NHK said about 20 people were injured, and that the man who set himself alight has died. But no official number has yet been given by the firefighters on the scene.
