FTSE Russell has said it would include Chinese A shares in two emerging-market indices. That's as another leading index provider, MSCI, is expected to make an announcement regarding the inclusion of A shares in ITS global benchmarks in two weeks.
China's securities regulator says it reached out to 30 major global institutional investors in March, hoping they would take the A shares into the MSCI and FTSE indices.
When that happens, A shares, which have seen a strong upturn in recent months, are expected to soar even further. Inclusion into the MSCI Index, in particular, has led to market rallies in almost every case.
