The high tech sector and emerging industries are offering critical support to China's economic development. That's the word from the deputy director of the Development Research Center of China's State Council, Liu Shijin. That's as the Chinese economy underperformed in April, with industrial profits missing expectations and fixed-asset investment continuing to slow.
"Overall, our economic growth is falling. But structurally speaking, this mostly applies to heavy and chemical industries. But for some sectors, specifically the high-tech industry and Internet-related industries, the pace of growth is still fairly high," said Liu Shijin, deputy director of Development Research Center of State Council.
