Over 2,900 lawmakers from across the country have arrived in Beijing the annual session of China's National People's Congress, which begins tomorrow and ends on March 15th.
A preparatory meeting has just been held to elect the session's Presidium and Secretary General, as well as to approve a draft procedure. The Presidium is a temporary body in every NPC session. It's nominated by the NPC Standing Committee and approved by the deputy groups across the country. It's responsible for deciding procedures and coordinating the passage of the motions.
Speaking at a press conference in Beijing this morning, spokesperson Fu Ying briefed media on the coming session and answered questions. Responding to the question over the 39 deputies have stripped off positions in the past two years, Fu Ying said the being a NPC deputy enjoys no privillage.
