With no confirmed cases registered since December 6, Mali has declared itself free of Ebola.
Minister of Health Ousmane Knoe thanked the health workers who treated patients and the international partners who helped them halt the spread of Ebola. He also urged maintaining basic hygiene and protective behavior.
Mali was the sixth West African country to record a case of Ebola, when a two-year-old girl from Guinea died there last October.
According to the World Health Organization, the Ebola epidemic killed six people in Mali.
The last patient infected with Ebola made a full recovery and left hospital in early December.
