Beijing housing officials will ease curbs on the purchase of high-end commercial properties in the city.
The Beijing Municipal Commission of Housing and Rural Development says it will slightly loosen the limits on high-end property that were implemented during the second half of last year.
The commission says it will also keep prices stable and adjust the pricing standards for ordinary properties when necessary. Beijing’s municipal government says, though, that there are no plans to relax general curbs in the near term.
"I think it’s not possible to fully lift the purchase limit, and it’s not the right timing. Every city has a different situation. Talking about the first-tier cities, housing prices are still very high. The populations are big in these cities, while there are many chances of speculation. I think it’s still necessary to keep the purchase limit now in the first-tier cities," State Council Dev't Research Center researcher Ren Xingzhou said.
