英语文摘:Slovak soldiers to join NATO mission in Afghanistan

BRATISLAVA, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- Slovakia is set to join the new NATO-led non-combat mission in Afghanistan called Resolute Support, providing 66 Slovak servicemen as of January 2015, confirmed Slovak Defence Minister Martin Glvac on Friday.

"At the NATO summit in Wales we declared that we wanted to continue to contribute towards the stabilisation of Afghanistan, as we're a reliable member of the Alliance and are ready to meet our obligations," said Glvac.

Meanwhile, the plan to launch the Resolute Support mission, as a follow-up mission to ISAF, was approved by the North Atlantic Council (NAC) on Nov. 28.

Resolute Support will differ from its predecessor, as it's a non-combat one and expected to focus on training, consulting and assistance to the Afghan security forces.

The engagement of the Slovak soldiers in Afghanistan will be covered from the budget of the Slovak Defence Ministry.
