There are other European countries, including Ireland, which promoted the diplomatic representation in their capitals from an office of a diplomatic commission to a diplomatic delegation.
Abed Rabbo condemned on behalf of the PLO executive committee what he termed as "the tendentious campaign carried out by al- Jazeera news channel," adding that "this channel is a tool that aims at distorting the national Palestinian position, a goal that goes in harmony with Israel's position."
"The timing of this campaign is not less dangerous than the large plotted process of distortion made through out creating certain words and sentences in what they termed as papers that al- Jazeera claims it had got," said Abed Rabbo, who described al- Jazeera's reports as "a silly play."
Abed Rabbo also said that al-Jazeera campaign "will never weaken our position, the contrary, it would increase our insistence to achieve more success by carrying on with our mission in all political and economical field."
Meanwhile, the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) announced on Wednesday that it had received a pledge from the European Union to get 300 million Euros to back the PNA budget for this year. The aid includes a support to the United Nations Relief and Work Agency (UNRWA).
Ali Jerbawi, the PNA minister of planning and development said in a press statement emailed to reporters that the pledge was made during a meeting with EU officials, adding that the financial aid to the PNA "would contribute in keep building up the establishment of the independent Palestinian state."
