英语文摘：Kyrgyz election commission to study complaints

BISHKEK, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- The Kyrgyz Central Election Commission (CEC) was due to check number of voters on the main and additional lists, the Kyrgyz president's press office said on Tuesday.

The commission will examine the complaints it received concerning the recently concluded parliamentary elections as well. So far no official results have been announced by the CEC.

Kyrgyz Acting President Roza Otunbayeva said that despite various hurdles both on the part of international and outside political forces, the interim government has managed to conduct constitutional reform and parliamentary elections as scheduled.

"Representatives from political parties acknowledged that the country's parliamentary elections were held transparently and democratically and this was a special contribution by President Otunbayeva," the state's press office was quoted as saying by the Interfax news agency.

It also noted that the results should not be challenged by street protests and everything should be done in accordance with law.

Following the elections held on Oct. 10, hundreds of people took to the streets to protest against the results. Later the CEC said it might mull over a possible recount.

A total of five parties won the parliamentary elections, set to elect the country's first parliamentary democracy.
