In Baghdad, a bomb attached to a car detonated near an intersection in 14th Ramadan Street in Mansour district, killing a passenger and wounding seven people, an Interior Ministry source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
Earlier in the day, the police said that seven people were killed and 12 others injured in separate attacks in and near Baghdad, including the killing of a Sunni cleric and some of his family members.
Waves of high-profile attacks and sporadic attacks are still common in the Iraqi cities three months after the country held its landmark parliamentary election which is widely expected to shape the political landscape of the war-torn country.
