He continues his rehabilitation after knee surgery earlier in the year. Upon his return from Italy, he has in his sights the end of his recovery and looks forward to returning to play as soon as possible.
"My muscles are still weak. At this point in time, I am still unable to do all I would like to do. However, I no longer feel any pain in my knee. That is the most important thing. I plan on returning to practice with the ball at the Flamengo facility on Monday," said the 32-year-old forward.
Confident in his return to the sport, Ronaldo was not shy to say that he desires to play in his record fifth World Cup for the Brazilian national team.
"It would be great to play in the 2010 Cup. However, my sole priority for now is to finish my rehab and get back into shape. Thus far, my recuperation has gone great," he added.
According to his physical trainer Bruno Mazzotti, within three or four weeks, Ronaldo may be able to play for a short period of time in an actual game. Next week, he is expected to participate in a scrimmage with the Flamengo soccer club.
When asked about where he would like to play, Ronaldo said that "Robinho is a great friend of mine. He is playing with Manchester City and I would love to live there. I also love Paris. I've been talking with Robinho, however, I am concentrated on returning to play competitively and nothing else."
