BEIJING, June 1 (Xinhuanet) -- American Idol's departing judge Simon Cowell has suggested Bret Michaels to replace him at the "Idol" finale party, and the latter replied that he was in the running to the replacement, according to media reports.

Bret Michaels made a surprise appearance on the famous singing contest last week, and performed alongside finalist Casey James.

After that, 68 percent of TVGuide.com voters say the "Poison front man" should replace Simon Cowell as the new judge of the reality singing competition.

"I was honored that Simon said that," Michaels tells PEOPLE, "and I would be honored to do it."

Michaels is definately quite suitable for the position, many fans hold, noting that he was a judge on Nashville Star, he wooed the ladies on three seasons of his own Rock of Love series, and he just won Celebrity Apprentice.

"I would bring my heart and my soul and amazingly honest and truthful advice," he says.

"And I would tell them if I thought their chances of making it were really slim — and how to fix that. Because my chances of making it were extremely slim. It's come from brute determination."
