英语文摘:Ben Kingsley is 2,410th star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

LOS ANGELES, May 27 (Xinhua) -- British actor Sir Ben Kingsley who played title role in Oscar-winning "Gandhi" received another honor Thursday, became the 2,410th star on the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame.

He was joined by Jerry Bruckheimer, the producer of his latest film "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time," giving speeches in the late-morning ceremony in front of the Madame Tussauds Hollywood.

The Walt Disney Pictures adventure will start its run in theaters on Friday. In the film Kingsley plays Nizam who is on a quest to seize the "Dagger Of Time" from Dastan ( played by Jake Gyllenhaal) in an effort to take control of the kingdom.

Kingsley, 66, won a best actor Oscar in 1983 for his portrayal of Mohandas Gandhi in "Gandhi." He received a best actor Academy Award nomination for his portrayal of a former Iranian Army colonel in the 2003 film "House of Sand and Fog," and best supporting actor nominations for his roles as Meyer Lansky in " Bugsy" and a brutal gangster in "Sexy Beast."

Born Krishna Pandit Bhanji in Snainton near Scarborough, Yorkshire,England, Kingsley made his London stage debut in 1966 and joined the Royal Shakespeare Company the following year. He played in his first film in 1972 in a supporting role in the thriller "Fear Is the Key.''

A veteran actor who played a variety of impressive roles, Kingsley also acted in hit movies like "Schindler's List," "Dave" and "Oliver Twist." In 2010, he starred alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in "Shutter Island," a horror film which was directed by Martin Scorsese.
