LOS ANGELES, May 24 (Xinhua) -- Late actress Brittany Murphy's husband Simon Monjack was found dead Sunday night in Los Angeles, local police said. He was 39.

There were no signs of foul play or criminal activity in the death of the British screenwriter and widower of Murphy who died five months ago, Los Angeles Police Sgt. Alex Ortiz told cnn. Monjack appeared to have died from natural causes, Assistant Chief Ed Winter of the coroner's office said.

Simon Monjack was found unconscious Sunday night at his Hollywood home where he lived with Sharon Murphy, mother of his wife for less than three years, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office.

At 9:24 p.m. Sunday, city fire responded to a 911 call for an " unspecified medical request," city fire spokesman Brian Humphrey told the Los Angeles Times. The coroner's office was notified two hours later.

Monjack and Murphy were married in May 2007. The couple had no children.

Murphy, 32, died on Dec. 20, 2009 from a combination of pneumonia, an iron deficiency and multiple drug intoxication. The death was classified as an accident after she went into sudden cardiac arrest because of "drug intake." The drugs involved were legal and used to treat a respiratory infection, an autopsy concluded.
