LOS ANGELES, March 7 (Xinhua) -- Workers near Kodak Theater, the venue of the 82nd Oscar Awards ceremony have been busy keeping the red carpet dry after a downpour patted the Los Angeles area overnight, as the final touch of the preparations was being put to the annual extravaganza.

The entrance to the Kodak Theater was covered in a plastic tent, and the carpet stretching along the hallway was also covered in plastic film, in order to keep it from getting wet. Oscar statues outside were also protected with plastic.

Early in the morning, the sky has turned clear and the ceremony is expected to take place in a fine day.

A post-Oscar party was also being readied. Governors Ball, where the event will be held after the award presentation, is buzzing with activity.

Outside on the Hollywood Boulevard, people are standing to get a glimpse of the movement. Television cameramen and photojournalists have begun to take their positions to bombard stellar entertainers with flash lights.

The area is cordoned off and traffic is diverted to other streets. Subway trains will bypass a station in the area. Some streets will not reopen until Tuesday morning.
