英语文摘:Sarawak to run international Jazz Festival

KUALA LUMPUR, April 17 (Xinhua) -- The Sarawak State in East Malaysia will run an international jazz festival in May this year.

    It will be the fourth consecutive year that the state ran the event, Sarawak State Tourism Board (STB) Chief Executive Officer Gracie Geikie said on Friday in Miri, the second largest city in the State.

    This year, The STB anticipated the presence of more people from the neighboring state of Sabah as well as Singapore which has introduced direct flights into the State's capital city of Kuching by a budget airline.

    There would also be a small group from Hong Kong that would attend the two-day festival on May 8-9.

    "Most of them are coming not solely for the jazz but sightseeing via packages like 'Jazz and Jungle' and 'Jive and Dive' ... after the festival," Geikie said.

    Bands from Australia, Britain, France, Japan, South Africa and Canada are expected to perform at the event.
